Overview of Pikey Peak Trekking – 9 Days

Pikey Peak is a scenic viewpoint in the lower Everest region of Nepal. It is known for its peaceful trails, traditional Sherpa villages, and wide Himalayan views. Pikey Peak Trekking is a 9 day trip which is a combination of mountain and local culture and is highly recommended to travelers who wish to visit the Everest region and avoid the numerous crowds on other more popular trails.

The trip begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, followed by a scenic drive to Dhap, where the Pikey Peak Trek starts. The route traverses rhododendron woodlands, open meadows, and hospitable mountain villages to the Pikey Peak Base Camp. An early morning hike to the summit at 4,065 m (13,336 ft) rewards you with sunrise views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Numbur Himal, and several other Himalayan peaks. One of the greatest attractions of Pikey Peak Trek Nepal are these extensive mountain sights.

Once you get there, the trip goes towards the scenic Sherpa village of Junbesi where you can get to know the local way of life, culture and hospitality. The itinerary will also cover a visit to Thuptenchholing Gompa, a significant Buddhist monastery, which provides an understanding of the spiritual practices in the Solu region. The 9 Days Pikey Peak Trek is not merely a mountain adventure due to these cultural experiences.

As you go you will have the benefit of staying in local teahouses and trying freshly cooked food while you pass through forest, farmland and peaceful villages. The well maintained paths and gentle climb make this trek suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Even though the peak is 4,065 m (13,336 ft) the summit does not demand technical climbing expertise or prior mountaineering experience.

In Himalayan Idol Adventure, we will make sure that your trip includes all aspects such as airport transfers, lodging, transportation, permission, qualified guides, and porters. Our group will ensure that you have a safe, well-planned and enjoyable trekking adventure so that you can enjoy the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Pikey Peak Trekking.

Aloxamento durante a ruta

We will provide comfortable accommodation from the beginning to the end of the journey during Pikey Peak Trekking. In Kathmandu, you will spend two nights in a tourist standard hotel, one night before the trek and the other after returning to Kathmandu after Salleri or Phaplu. These hotels provide convenient rooms and contemporary amenities to have a relaxing stay.

During the trek, we will stay in locally operated teahouses that provide clean twin sharing rooms with basic facilities. Depending on the location, bathrooms can be shared or private. The facilities are easier at elevations, though the teahouses are cozy and ideal to travel on the mountains.

Another reason to stay in these teahouses is to enjoy the hospitable nature of the Sherpa people. We will have freshly cooked food every day, relax in the dining room and gear up to the next day adventure, and Pikey Peak Trek Nepal will be not only comfortable but also a rich experience in terms of culture.

Food and Drinks During Pikey Peak Trekking

Healthy and nutritious foods will ensure that you are energized during Pikey Peak Trekking. Local teahouses serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and provide a wide selection of Nepali and international cuisine made of the locally available ingredients. As you gain altitude, the menu becomes simpler but still provides enough variety for a comfortable trekking experience.

The most common meal among trekkers is Dal Bhat since it is nutritious, filling, and in most cases, it can be refilled without charge. Additional popular dishes are noodles, fried rice, pasta, soups, momos, eggs, pancakes, potatoes, and Tibetan bread. Vegetarian food is very common and our guide will be happy to provide help in case you have any eating needs.

Most teahouses serve tea, coffee, hot lemon, ginger tea and other hot drinks. One can buy safe drinking water in the form of boiled water and we suggest carrying a reusable water bottle with purification tablets, or a portable filter. It is also important to keep hydrated during the trek to maintain your energy levels and support proper acclimatization.

transporte

We will arrange all transportation required for your Pikey Peak Trekking adventure. Our team will provide airport pickup and drop off services in Kathmandu. We will travel by private jeep or a similar vehicle from Kathmandu to Dhap, where the trek begins. After completing the trek at Salleri or Phaplu, we will return to Kathmandu by private vehicle.

The road trip touches the scenic hills, rivers, terraced fields, and old villages to provide an opportunity to explore the countryside of Nepal. Though there are rough parts of the mountain road, the drive is beautiful and pleasant.

Our crew will make sure that all transfers are properly organized, safe and comfortable. We will take care of all the transportation between arrival and departure so that you can have fun on the Pikey Peak Trek Nepal and the last thing to think about is how to get to the place.

Best Time for Pikey Peak Trekking

Pikey Peak Trekking can be explored during most of the year, though the spring and autumn seasons are recommended, as they bring unchanging weather, good temperatures and fine mountain views. The trails are also usually dry during such months, making the hiking experience safe and enjoyable to all hikers.

During spring, the forests are filled with rhododendrons and the days are sunny and warm whereas in autumn, the air is crisp and the skies are clear following the monsoon season. The winter also provides scenic mountain scenery but the colder weather and the frequent snowfall towards the top demand warmer clothes. Visibility is also low most of the days because the summer monsoon results in a lot of rainfall that leaves the trails muddy.

Altitude e aclimatación

The highest point of Pikey Peak Trekking is the summit of Pikey Peak at 4,065 m (13,336 ft). This is a moderate altitude compared to many other Himalayan treks, but it is still important to ascend gradually and allow your body sufficient time to adjust. Our itinerary has been designed to facilitate proper acclimatization while allowing you to enjoy the trek at a comfortable pace.

We will ascend slowly before the early morning summit hike making gradual ascent between Dhap and Pikey Peak Base Camp. Once on the top, we will go down to the lower altitude of Junbesi where you will rest another night and see Thuptenchholing Gompa. This gradual climb helps to reduce the impact of altitude and provides the additional time to acclimate before moving on.

Our professional guides will check your health during the trip and motivate you to drink a lot of water, walk slowly and rest. Most trekkers to mountain can do Pikey Peak Trek Nepal without any difficulties and enjoy the awesome mountain views with a great itinerary and advice from your guide.

Saúde e seguridade

During the trek, we value your safety the most. Experienced guides know the trails, weather and the mountain environment and therefore are able to make informed decisions whenever the need arises. They also carry a first aid kit and are trained to respond to common trekking related situations.

We offer a comprehensive briefing session that includes the itinerary, trail conditions, and essential safety measures before the trek. On the trip, our group keeps track of the group speed and general comfort to assist in making the group experience safe and pleasant to all.

When travelling with some underlying medical condition, we suggest that you consult your doctor. It is advisable to carry personal medicines, keep well hydrated and do as your guide suggests so that you will complete the trek in a safe and comfortable manner.

Seguro de viaxe

It is highly advisable that anyone who joins the Pikey Peak Trekking have a travel insurance. Although the trail is considered moderately difficult, trekking in the mountains always involves changing weather, uneven terrain, and the possibility of unexpected situations. An all-inclusive insurance policy will cover your trip with financial security and tranquility.

High altitude trekking to at least 4,100 meters, emergency treatment, and helicopter evacuation in case of need should be covered by your insurance. The other policy that can be selected is one that covers the trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage loss, and personal accident.

Ensure that your policy is reviewed before travelling to Nepal to make sure that it covers all trekking activities planned. To minimize such an emergency, we suggest that you carry a printed or electronic version of your insurance information along the trek.

Internet, Mobile Network and Charging Facilities

The Pikey Peak Trek has coverage of mobile networks in most villages, but can get low or no coverage in the remote areas of the trail. In this area, Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell tend to be the most extensive, although the coverage is not always available because of the mountainous terrain.

Certain teahouses do have WiFi, though at an extra cost, others use mobile data connections. Internet speeds are usually slower than in cities, making them suitable for basic messaging rather than streaming or large downloads.

Most teahouses have charging facilities that charge a small fee. Electricity may sometimes be scarce and therefore it is strongly advisable to carry a power bank to ensure that your phone, camera, or any other electronic gadgets are charged during the 9 Days Pikey Peak Trek.
