Nepal’s weather varies by region. The Terai region is warm and hot, while the Himalayas are brutally cold. Nepal has 4 major seasons: fall (Sep- Nov), winter (Dec-Feb),spring (Mar-May), and summer/monsoon (Jun-Aug).
The ideal times for hiking in the Jomsom Muktinath are spring and autumn. These two seasons offer stable weather and a moderate climate, which makes them perfect for trekking and climbing trips as well.
If you want to trek here during the monsoon, then it is also possible in the Upper Dolpo region because it lies in the rain shadow of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and doesn’t receive much rainfall, so it is called an exception for trekking during the monsoon at Jomsom Muktinath.
Spring (March-May): Spring is one of the great seasons for trekking in Jomsom Muktinath, Nepal. In this season, the weather is generally clear in the mornings, but there might be clouds and occasional rain in the afternoons.
Due to the beautiful blooming flowers like jasmine and rhododendron available this season, the majority of trekkers are here for the treks to enjoy vibrant colors, which are obviously due to the flowers at the trails.
Lower areas are warm, while higher areas have mild temperatures, which makes it an even better time for mountain climbing as well as high-altitude treks.
Autumn (September-November): Autumn is an best season and time for trekking on the Jomsom Muktinath Trek. In this season, there are clear skies and moderate temperatures, which is best for trekkers.
September, October, and November are three popular months, attracting thousands of adventurers for trekking. Another reason most individuals love this season is its safety, because this season is safe from natural disasters like floods and landslides.
Trekkers get the chance to take in breathtaking views of spectacular mountains and can enjoy the consistent weather with peace of mind.
Winter (November-March): It is feasible to go trekking in the winter, although it will be difficult. The days are clear and cool; we can’t ignore the nights, which are extremely cold. December, January, and February—these 3 months are known as the freezing months of this season.
As we know, above 3,000 meters, frequent snowfall and freezing temperatures are common, especially in the winter season. If you are someone who is willing to enjoy beautiful winter scenery without extreme cold, then a lower-altitude trek is highly recommended.
Summer (June-August): Summer is monsoon season with heavy rain and hot weather. There are fewer trekkers this season because of the challenging weather conditions.
But the area with the rain shadow is still available for trekking. With the rain shadow, the regions of Mustang, Dolpo, and Nar-Phu Valley will remain the best options one can go with, simply because the lands they are situated on are drier than other regions.
Even though the weather is cloudy, some hikers like the lack of other types of tourists in winter paths.
