Best Time
Choosing the appropriate time for a family tour in Nepal assures memorable experiences, since the weather and condition of activities vary with seasons.
Autumn from September to November is the best time for a family trip to Nepal. It’s when there are clear skies and mild temperatures, offering an outstanding view of the Himalayas and quality time for trekking and sightseeing.
Temperatures during this time vary from 15°C–25°C, making it ideal for hanging around Annapurna, Chitwan National Park and Kathmandu.
Spring starting from March to May is another excellent time to visit, with blooming rhododendrons and equally pleasant weather. Temperatures range from 10°C to 22°C—ideal for outdoor activities and trekking. Vibrant landscapes and clear skies rise to further heighten the experience.
Winter (December to February) is a quieter time with fewer tourists. The temperatures take a nosedive, particularly in the higher altitudes, while Kathmandu and Pokhara stay quite mild, with the temperature at 5°C to 15°C or 41°F to 59°F in these places.
Spectacular views of snow-capped mountains present themselves in this season, although higher treks might be quite testing due to the cold weather.
Monsoon Season from June to August is the period of heavy rainfalls and high humidity, generally affecting treks and travel. The landscapes are lush green, less crowded during this season. The paths in the trails will be slippery and more than likely disrupt travel. Temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C, but at 68°F to 86°F, it doesn’t seem to be good for trekking.
Usually, autumn and spring prove to be the best seasons for experiencing a family tour in Nepal. This season portrays clear skies, tolerable temperatures, and just the right conditions to explore the culture and enjoy outdoor activities. Winter brings a calmer experience, while monsoon brings a problem in weather and travel but presents it lush and serene.
