Difficulty
The Gokyo Lake Trek 15 days has been categorized as moderate-difficult, but the actual difficulty of this hike depends on a number of aspects that must be taken into account. Even for seasoned hikers, the length of a walk establishes the actual difficulty of a hiking path. It shouldn’t be a big concern if you are accustomed to walking and working out, but it’s not the same for novices. So, it is not suitable for beginners.
Since the atmospheric oxygen level continues to decrease at greater altitudes, walking becomes increasingly more difficult as altitude rises. The Gokyo Valley Trek is renowned for its steep sections, which require greater physical effort than a section of gentle ascent.
Best seasons
For those seeking moderate days, flowering flora, and milder conditions, spring is the ideal time of year to hike in Nepal. The beginning of spring is often temperate in low-elevation locations like the starting point of our trek, with somewhat cool temperatures. This makes hiking in places like Gokyo Lakes quite enjoyable. Trekking conditions become bright, clear, and pleasant as winter fades and spring advances, with mild temperatures seen in locations over 3500 meters.
Spring, which provides fields of blooming wild flora, including the well-known huge rhododendrons, gives the environment a brilliant and bright texture. It is also one of the greatest seasons to hike and ascend the hills of remote Nepal.
Altitude Sickness
Altitude sickness, which can happen at high elevations in areas where there isn’t as much oxygen accessible, is something that trekkers in the Gokyo region need to be aware of. Although altitude sickness is more likely to develop at elevations over 3,000 meters, particularly when rising quickly, it can start at sleeping elevations over 2,500 meters. Because day trips to high altitudes place less strain on the human body, AMS is less prone to occur.
Individual differences exist in AMS, which is independent of age or level of athletic ability. The only factor that can predict the occurrence of AMS is your past experience with high-altitude travel; if you had issues there previously, they are likely to recur.
Accommodation, Food, and Drink
We’ll take care of your lodging, meals, and beverages. During the Gokyo Lake Trek 15 days, we are in charge of making sure your bed is warm every night. The specifics of your stay in various locations can be obtained from the guide.
Regarding food and beverages, our trip package includes all of the meals required for the walk; however, it does not include any additional beverages, such as cold drinks and juices. When it’s needed, we’ll offer coffee, tea, and water. Bringing a thermos is something to think about because you’ll prefer warm water over room temperature in the mountains of Nepal due to the cold weather.
Your meals will not reflect your tastes, but rather what is offered locally when you travel. You won’t have a lot of food alternatives because we’ll be going through challenging conditions. Additionally, tasting the local cuisine is a great way to get familiar with the area—after all, the main purpose of hiking is to learn about remote Nepal.
You don’t need to be concerned about receiving food that you dislike. During our time in the cities, you may inform us about what you would want to eat, or we can figure something out and make sure we have plenty of it. Similarly, with beverages, you may store up on those you anticipate needing.
We will not be responsible for providing you with drinking water, however, we will make sure that you get tea and coffee every day.
Transportation
Our Gokyo Lake Trek 15 Days package will cover all the air transport and land transport required by the route we will be traveling. We will also pick you up from the airport in our vehicle and drop you off as well after the trip has ended.
The transportation we will be needing is: a private vehicle ride for the sightseeing day, a flight to and from Lukla, our starting point and ending point of the trek, and a ride to the regional airport of Kathmandu.
Permit
Legally, you are required to have the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, and Khumbu Pasang Lhumu Municipality Entrance Permit to travel to this region. These regions are protected and require a great deal of funding to maintain. Hence, the government of Nepal initiated the practice of permits in these regions and other trekking destinations.
Trip preparation and fitness
You may easily complete the Gokyo Lake trek route if you are an experienced hiker with a strong body. However, you may prepare for it by exercising on a daily basis for weeks prior to the walk if you would like to feel more self-assured. Your muscles will become used to the strain and you’ll gain more endurance as a result. For several days, we will be traveling on snow, and for the most part, we will be trekking on rugged terrain.
Making certain you have everything you’ll need for the voyage is another way to be ready for the trip. To begin with, make sure you are wearing the appropriate attire, a thermal foundation, many layers of clothing, and a down jacket to round it off.
Gadgets charging & Internet
It can be expensive to charge your devices in the tea shops and hotels in the area, particularly in the higher section. However, some could also provide complimentary device charging.
You won’t probably get any cell phone signals in such unpaved areas, and your mobile data service won’t function as well. Nonetheless, tea shops and hotels provide wifi.
Our hike package does not include the cost of the tea houses’ internet and gadget charging. Thus, if at all feasible, we advise you to carry a power bank.
Your Extra expenses
Your extra expenses include extra accommodations, visa fees, emergency services, travel and medical expenses, tips for the porters and guide, additional meals, personal bills during stays in lodges and tea houses, and any other expenses that we have not mentioned to be included.
