The Gokyo Valley Trek begins with a flight from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, to Lukla, which covers around 367 kilometers. Then, from Lukla, you’ll climb to Phakding and then to Namche Bazaar, where you’ll acclimate at an elevation of 3,440 meters.
You’ll ascend the highest elevation of 5,357 meters (17,575 ft) at Gokyo Ri in this adrenaline-filled, adventurous journey. You need to hike a normally of five to six hours per day. So, you need to be well-prepared and physically fit to complete this 12-day trek.
c) Difficulty and altitude sickness
The Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek is appropriate for individuals in good health and stamina, even if the trekker is a beginner. The course is largely moderate, with a few muddy pathways and steep spots. However, altitude sickness is a problem because the trek reaches an elevation of 5000 meters.
High-Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) and High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) are life-threatening conditions that demand immediate medical attention and treatment. But you don’t need to worry about that because our itinerary includes extra days for acclimatization in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo to help prevent this.
Before you plan to go on this trek, make sure you are well-prepared by doing several fitness exercises like cycling, swimming, pull-ups, and push-ups to strengthen your endurance and stamina.
d) Maximum and minimum walk per day
The Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek is physically challenging. You need to trek for at least an average of 5 to 6 hours regularly. You’ll be hiking for a minimum of three to four hours when trekking from Luka to Phakding, which will be a very easy trek compared to other days.
Similarly, you have to trek a maximum of six to seven hours per day when crossing Renjo Pass, descending to Rermo Pokhari on the eighth day, and trekking back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar on the eleventh day. The minimum and maximum walk per day depends heavily on the pace of the trekkers as well.
e) Accommodation, Food and Drink
During these 12 days of the Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek, you will find accommodations having a twin-sharing basic in teahouses, with shared showers and toilets in some places. During peak hiking seasons, you may share anaccommodation with otherhiker from another group.
This trip provides a different category of food options. You will be served three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lodges and bad teahouses serve Tibetan fried bread, momos (steamed dumplings), daal bhat (lentils and rice), and a variety of vegetables served in various ways. You’ll also find European, Italian, pasta, pizza, and even canned meats.
Moreover, these teahouses also offer the facilities of gadget charging and Wi-Fi services. However, you have to pay an extra charge to use these services. But the options for food, electricity, and internet will be limited at higher altitudes.
f) Transportation
Our Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek covers all your flight transportation costs. On this first day of our spectacular journey, we will take a flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Luka Airport. On his journey, there will be no use of other means of transportation except the plane.
We’ll mostly be walking to every place to reach our destination. On our return journey, we’ll again be taking a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, concluding this incredible journey filled with a lot of unforgettable memories.
