The Poonhill Chomrong Trek, also known as the Himalayan gem, is settled in the heart of the Annapurna region. As we move ahead in our trek the elevation also gradually increases. The second day we hike to Tikhedunga which is 1500 m above sea level. Following the trail the next day we will be going towards 2850 m above sea level, traveling to Ghorepani. While returning we will be visiting Chomrong Village which is at 2210m above sea level.
The Poonhill Chomrong trek is considered as one of the easiest treks holding only a maximum level of altitude to 3210m from sea level. A normal walking paced trek where you can reach your destination walking only 6 hours per day. The other reason why this is an easy trek is you will come across many other fellow trekker from the foreign and as well as people from Nepal. This trek is very straight forward and easy and from the age of a child to the age of an older person anyone can do it easily. The altitude of the surroundings is also not that high and the views, places, and the trail are also worth visiting which will make the trek even special.
For most of the trek, we will mostly be strolling down the path. However, there are only two times that we will be traveling by bus. On our first day, we will be traveling from Pokhara to Nayapool by bus. Likewise, on our last day, we will be traveling by bus from Nayapool on our way to Pokhara. On the trail of our Poonhill Chomrong trek, as the trail is mostly through the jungles and villages there is no route for the buses or cars to operate.
However, if there are any difficulties for the people while trekking, an experienced porter and a professional guide can help you on your way. Moreover, the local people of the villages are also generous kind people and they would also help you.
On our journey to the Poonhill Chomrong Trek, we will likely encounter a large number of lodges and tiny tea shops where we can stop and have lunch. The maximum number of tea shops are family-run businesses. All of the family members help each other and work together to contribute to their home business. However here you cannot stay for a night as it is only a shop to have a quick bite.
There are many lodges too along the trail in the Trek. The lodges have good and convenient facilities for the trekkers. The facilities include rooms with beds and blankets with other necessary items, 3 meals food systems, Internet services, private bathrooms, and many more.
We can expect many lodges and small tea shops where we can stop and have our lunch on our way to the Poonhill Chomrong trek. Numerous teashops are found during our trek. These teashops are mostly managed by all the members of the family. We can stop here and have a small bite recharging ourselves to continue the trek.
While on the other hand, the lodge has extra facilities. Lodges have better services such as bedrooms, private bathrooms, 3 meals services, WIFI, and many more. Their food menus are filled with Nepali food items as well as Western food items. Some lodges also provide authentic and traditional food items from the Magar, Gurung, and Tharu communities.
The Poonhill Chomrong Trek is an easy trail for everyone as 80 percent of the trek lies between the luscious forests with a straight pathway. Experienced potters and professional guides will also be available during the trek if the trekkers request it. As it is an easy task to hike this route, many trekkers attempt it without one. The potters and the guides are at hand only if it’s an emergency.
There is no need to be in discomfort if the guides and the potters are not available when in need. If you have a local contact near the location then reaching out to them for help also can be workable. The local people are very helpful and friendly, innocent, and fun people to be friends with. During your travel, you will also come across many other fellow travelers, and you can ask for help from them as well.

Having a sleeping bag always comes in handy so yes, it’s a good idea to carry it for the Trek. Even if the teahouses provide a decent bed and blankets that might not be able to help you as per your need. A sleeping bag provides extra warmth, and comfort, especially at higher altitudes where the climate changes frequently.

No, you cannot travel to Poon Hill by car. It is only possible to reach Poonhill by foot walking. The trek starts from Nayapul towards Tikhedhunga.In further days we will be traveling to Ghorepani and eventually, we will reach our destination. Almost all of our trekking days involve a hike through landscapes, forests, suspension bridges, and terraced fields. However the bus services are provided only at the beginning and the end of the trek, travel to Nayapool by bus from Pokhara. The bus services are not available later on the trek until the last day from Nayapool to Pokhara.
Depending on the condition of the weather and the pace of the trekkers the trek to Poon Hill normally takes around an hour on average from Ghorepani. As the Poonhill is a famously known place near the Annapurna area which gives better views of the Himalayas and the sunrise.
