Acclimatization avoids conditions that include acute mountain sickness, which entails nausea and loss of appetite, among many other symptoms.

The weather conditions are pretty rough along the trek. Strong winds and cold temperatures, with the winter season at its worst, make spring (from April to May) and autumn (from September to October) the best times for the Upper Mustang Trek.

Besides that, the rugged landscape and remoteness add to the difficulty of the trek through the availability of limited facilities, whereby the conditions of trekking become variable.

The altitude sickness may further increase and lead to high-altitude cerebral edema and high-altitude pulmonary edema. Climbers should make a gradual ascent, keeping themselves well hydrated and using medications, if possible, to combat these.
