Visa Information

All foreigners, except Indian nationals, require a visa to enter Nepal, available as an online application with options for Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or by applying at a Nepalese embassy or consulate before travel. A tourist visa is the standard entry visa, obtainable for durations like 15, 30, or 90 days, with extendable options. Key requirements include a passport with at least six months’ validity and a blank visa page, plus completing the online visa application form.
Types of Visas

The common entry visa for tourism, sightseeing, and leisure, available as a Visa on Arrival.

For other purposes like business, study, work, or residence, these require an application through the relevant line agency and the Department of Immigration.

For government officials and their families, with specific application procedures.

How to Get a Visa

  1. 1. Online Application:

Submit your visa application form online at the Department of Immigration’s website before your arrival.

  1. 2. Arrival at Airport:

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, complete the online form using the kiosk machines, or have your printed submission receipt ready.

  1. 3. Proceed to Immigration Desk:

Go to the immigration desk with your passport, online form receipt, and be prepared to pay the visa fee for the duration you require.

  1. 4. Visa Issued:

An immigration officer will process your application and issue the visa to your passport.

Key Requirements

  • Passport: Must have a minimum of six months’ validity from the date of entry into Nepal.
  • Blank Page: Your passport needs at least one blank visa page.

Important Information

  • Gratis Visa:

Citizens of SAARC countries (except Afghanistan) can receive a free visa on arrival for 30 days on their first visit in a year.

  • Visa Extension:

A tourist visa can be extended for longer stays by contacting the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or the Immigration Office in Pokhara.

  • Eligibility:

Some nationalities are not eligible for Visa on Arrival and must apply at a Nepalese embassy or consulate beforehand.

  • Visa Validity:
