Your journey to start your Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek begins with a flight from Lukla Airport to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. Namche Bazaar is a well-known hamlet in the Khumbu region, and we will visit there on the second day of our Everest Gokyo Valley Trek via Renjo La Pass. In Phakding, we will start our strenuous walk right after breakfast. We’ll have to travel through little settlements and cross the Dudh Koshi on a suspension bridge.
Before ascending stairs through the jungle along the riverbed, you must first validate your permits at the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu ticket-checking booth. Our walk continues with a climb to Jorsale, which will take us 2.5 hours to reach. Then we reach Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we’ll authenticate our permits before continuing uphill.
After several hours of difficult hiking, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar, the region’s primary business hub and the gateway to Everest. There are ATMs, cafes, western restaurants, Wi-Fi, and other services available. We’ll spend two nights here as part of our Gokyo Valley Trek.

You can also visit a mini-museum that is just 30 minutes away from the center and will give you a great view of Namche from above. Once you reach there, you can enjoy magnificent vistas of Lhotse, Nuptse, and other peaks.

On the fourth day of the Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek for 12 days, we’ll trek from Namche Bazaar to the tranquil village of Phunki Tenga at a height of 3250 meters. This part of the journey combines stunning natural beauty, challenging terrain, and cultural experiences, which offer a lot of wonderful moments.
We’ll hike from Namche Bazaar after a nice breakfast. We’ll descend to the Dudh Koshi River. The path is lovely, winding through rhododendron and pine forests, with lush slopes and several mountains adding to our attractiveness.
We will go by Sherpa villages where you may see how the inhabitants live their everyday lives and observe their rituals. We’ll arrive in Phunki Tenga, a tiny community beside the Dudh Koshi River, after five to six hours of hiking. The fourth day of the Gokyo Valley Trek comes to a conclude here tonight.

We’ll leave this small village, Phunki Tenga, early in the morning after having a tasty breakfast. Our trek starts with a steady climb, and the air becomes thinner. If you face any signs of acute mountain sickness, then report us immediately so that we can help you ease the problem.
We’ll walk through juniper forests and wildflowers, passing waterfalls, narrow hills, and steep ridges. We’ll ascend the Lambara and Luza heights, with impressive views of Kantega and Thamserku peaks.
The path then takes us above the river and sandy fields until we reach Machhermo, a spot known for its intriguing ‘Yeti’ tales and as a highlight of Renjo La Pass. This will be our last stop on this Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek.

On this gorgeous sixth day of the Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek, we’ll leave Machhermo after a delicious breakfast. The journey to Gokyo is a tough uphill walk with some steep routes that provide breathtaking vistas along the way.
Next, we move down to the riverbank and take a vertical uphill trailpast the mountains of the Ngozumpa glacier, Nepal’s longest glacier. On our way to Gokyo, we can see Gokyo Lake I and several monasteries. The small village of Gokyo is home to an ancient Sherpa community, and the area boasts some of the most spectacular landscapes and lakes.
After having lunch in Gokyo, we’ll go to Fifth Gokyo Lake. We then travel north from the valley, moving higher altitude, and arrive Thonak Tsho (the 4th lake). Then, we track the path uphill to Ngozumpa Tso, the 5th lake.
We can soak up the breathtaking views of towering mountains like Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, and Everest from here. After enjoying this heavenly view, we head back down to Gokyo for the night-ending Gokyo Valley Trek for this day.

This is the day you will reach the highest point of your journey, Gokyo Ri (5,357 m/17,575 ft) on your 12-day Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek itinerary. This peak towers above Gokyo village, located on the lake’s northern edge. We are getting up early in the dawn and starting our day by hiking to see the sunrise.
We’ll be walking through a dusty and rocky trail with a steep path that leads us uphill. After we reach Gokyo Ri, you can see a marvelous view of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range, including Everest, Cho-Oyu, Makalu, Gyachung Kang, Ama Dablam, and more. The sunrise from Gokyo Ri is spectacular, with golden rays shining over the snowy mountains.
We will stay here for a while to soak in the heavenly natural beauty of Gokyo Ri. Then, we’ll descend back to the village the same way we came up. We’ll once again spend our day in Gokyo exploring the area on this seventh day of the Gokyo Valley Trek.

Our hike is going to be challenging as we hike through several grasslands and rugged mountains, climbing steep trails until we reach Renjo La Pass.
After reaching here, you’ll be rewarded with views of Rolwaling, Rermo Pokhari Lake, and Tengi Ragi Tau in the west and Makalu, Everest, and Gokyo Lake in the east. We’ll descend Rermo Pokhari and set up camp beside the lakes, surrounded by this breathtaking scenery. We’ll stay overnight here on this exciting Gokyo Valley Trek.

After hiking for five to six hours, we will arrive at Thame. There are many places to visit, including the ancient Thame monastery, located 150 meters above the village. We’ll spend our overnight here before heading to Namche Bazaar.

The course is largely moderate, with a few muddy pathways and steep spots. However, altitude sickness is a problem because the trek reaches an elevation of 5000 meters. High-Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) and High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) are life-threatening conditions that demand immediate medical attention and treatment.
But you don’t need to worry about that because our itinerary includes extra days for acclimatization in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo to help prevent this. Before you plan to go on this trek, make sure you are well-prepared by doing several fitness exercises like cycling, swimming, pull-ups, and push-ups to strengthen your endurance and stamina.
The Everest Gokyo Valley Via Renjo La Pass Trek is physically challenging. You need to trek for at least an average of 5 to 6 hours regularly. You’ll be hiking for a minimum of three to four hours when trekking from Luka to Phakding, which will be a very easy trek compared to other days. Similarly, you have to trek a maximum of six to seven hours per day when crossing Renjo Pass, descending to Rermo Pokhari on the eighth day, and trekking back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar on the eleventh day. The minimum and maximum walk per day depends heavily on the pace of the trekkers as well.
